Rose Ferderber, 100, of Ely, dies
Rose Ferderber, 100, passed away in Duluth March 13, 2017 after a long life. She was born in Eveleth on January 13, 1917.
Rose married George Ferderber in 1940 in Eveleth and moved to Ely.
She was a bartender at the Moose Club, Vet’s and Elna’s. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Slovenian Women’s Union and the Slovenian Chorus.
She enjoyed baking and making Potica. She was the second person to bowl a 600 series in Ely and went to many tournaments and received many awards for her bowling. She also spent much of her younger days at the cabin on Farm Lake. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gambling.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Mark Jandrey (Ely, MN) Raelyne Jandrey (Spring, TX) and Paul Jandrey (Ely, MN) Sisters: Helen Settimi (Hoyt Lakes, MN), Frances Kramar (Duluth, MN) and Mary Stanich (Auburn Hills, MI) Great-grandchildren: Jeramiah Fuller (Spartanburg, SC) and Ashley Fuller (Spring, TX) along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Anton and Anna Kastelic, husband George Ferderber and daughter Rose Anne Dufresne and five others siblings.
Funeral services will be March 21, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Ely at 11:00 a.m. Visitation 10:00-11:00 a.m. Interment will be Ely Cemetery in spring time.
