Audrey Rogenes, 87, of Ely, dies
Audrey Flora Louise Rogenes, 87, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017 and ent home to her Heavenly Father. Audrey was born Sept. 17, 1929, to Neils Eijner Aurelius and Olga (Skau) Peterson, St. Paul.
Audrey was brought to the Lord in baptism and her faith in God was confirmed in the Lutheran Church, St. Paul.
The family moved to Ely in 1941 where Eijner bought and cleared land to build a house and later eight cabins were built called, (Sunset View Cabins). During the summer they would occasionally visit their relatives in Wisconsin and would return home with a couple of kittens. The highlight of the summer was a visit from them.
Audrey graduated from high school in Ely. She graduated from Lutheran Bible Institute 1955. She was a parish worker and organist in St. Paul. She also worked at St. John’s Hospital.
Audrey and Joel Anton Rogenes were married Oct. 21, 1978, at Victory In Christ Church, St. Paul. They took over running Sunset View. This continued until their health gave out.
Tuesday mornings were set aside for Bible Study which Joel would conduct and Audrey would provide refreshments. People staying at the resort were always invited to attend. Over the years many family and friends were privileged to attend.
She is survived by husband Joel; brother- in- law, Louie (Patty) Falk and nephews Steve (Diana) Holland, Chet (Kristy), Jeff (Leah) and Jeremy Falk
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Richard and sister-in–law, Hazel Holland.
Funeral services will be held at Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely at 2 p.m. Monday Jan. 30, 2017, with visitation at 1:30.
